How to set your winder

Turns per day (TPD). An automatic movement needs a set number of rotations a day to stay wound, usually between 650 and 1,800. Too few and the watch slowly stops; more than needed adds nothing. Start at the lowest program that keeps your watch running.

Direction. Some movements wind clockwise, some counter-clockwise, many both ways. If you are unsure, choose bidirectional: it suits every automatic movement.

Magnetism. Keep the winder away from speakers, phones and other magnets. A magnetized watch can gain or lose several minutes a day and needs a watchmaker to demagnetize it.

A glass lid closes over both rows and keeps dust off the watches. Soft LED light brightens the grey interior, so you can read every dial through the glass before lifting the lid.

The pillows and slots are padded with a soft velvet-touch fabric. Unplug before cleaning, wipe the high-gloss dark wood-grain case with a soft, dry cloth, and keep it out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.

Two rotors of three pillows, on a sloped back panel, wind six automatic watches. A row of six padded slots in front holds quartz or manual-wind pieces, so the box keeps up to twelve watches together.

The lid is glass. Clean it with a soft, dry cloth.

Can a winder damage my watch?

Not when it is set correctly. Choose the turns per day and the direction your movement needs (see Winder settings); if in doubt, bidirectional at the lowest program is the safe choice. Keep the winder away from speakers and other magnets.

How many slots do I need?

Count the automatic watches you rotate but do not wear every day: those are the ones a winder keeps running.

Can I return it if it is not right?
