How to set your winder

Turns per day (TPD). An automatic movement needs a set number of rotations a day to stay wound, usually between 650 and 1,800. Too few and the watch slowly stops; more than needed adds nothing. Start at the lowest program that keeps your watch running.

Direction. Some movements wind clockwise, some counter-clockwise, many both ways. If you are unsure, choose bidirectional: it suits every automatic movement.

Magnetism. Keep the winder away from speakers, phones and other magnets. A magnetized watch can gain or lose several minutes a day and needs a watchmaker to demagnetize it.

Quartz watches have no rotor to wind, and Kinetic movements are not designed for winders.

Both watches sit on cushioned pillows set into one round turntable. Slide a strap or a bracelet over the pillow and press it into place.

Is it real leather or faux leather?

It is PU faux leather, not animal leather. It resists scuffs and everyday handling, and wipes clean with a soft, dry cloth.

Can a winder damage my watch?

Not when it is set correctly. Choose the turns per day and the direction your movement needs (see Winder settings); if in doubt, bidirectional at the lowest program is the safe choice. Keep the winder away from speakers and other magnets.

How many slots do I need?

Count the automatic watches you rotate but do not wear every day: those are the ones a winder keeps running.

Can I return it if it is not right?

Will my watches fit on the pillows?

The pillows suit most men's and women's automatic watches on straps or bracelets. Very large or very thick watches may sit tighter; if in doubt, email help@oakvyre.com with your watch size before ordering.

Which watches does it suit?

It is made for automatic (self-winding) watches. Quartz and Kinetic watches do not need a winder.

Is it real leather?

No. The case is covered in PU faux leather, in a carbon-pattern or black finish.

How long does delivery take?
